Deer Creek
The Deer Creek Canyon Trail, in the Santa Fe National Forest, mostly goes along a small stream with numerous crossings, amidst a wonderful conifer forest. There are some deep pools as well.
The tall trees (ponderosa and piñon pines, Rocky Mountain juniper, blue spruce, Douglas and white fir) are imposing.
The extensive rock formations are exquisite and inspiring.
Although the trailhead is just off a major interstate, the traffic sounds quickly disappear, and the stillness and connection with nature are very uplifting and deeply meaningful.
